Appointed Associate Curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) in 2016. At PAMM, she has curated several exhibitions including william cordova: now’s the time, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz: A Universe of Fragile Mirrors, Ulla von Brandenburg: It Has a Golden Sun and an Elderly Grey Moon,Firelei Báez: Bloodlines, Carlos Motta: Histories for the Future, among others. Her PAMM exhibitions have travelled to prestigious venues such as the Warhol Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; El Museo de Barrio, New York; and the DePaul Museum, Chicago. Ortiz has also had a significant role developing and conceptualizing public programs at PAMM, where she has presented At the Crossroads: Critical Film and Video from the Caribbean, along with other symposia related to exhibitions.
Educated at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Ortiz served as Curator of Contemporary Arts at the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros (SAPS) prior to working at PAMM. At SAPS, she organized several projects including Carlos Motta, The Shape of Freedom, Rita Ponce de León: David, among others. She has also developed independent project such as Video Islands at the Anthology Film Archive, New York; and Wherever You Roam at the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach. She has collaborated with international and national institutions including the New Orleans Museum of Art; Prospect 4; Tarble Arts Center, Charleston; The New Museum, New York; New Langton Arts, San Francisco; Teorética, San Jose, Costa Rica; the Museum of Craft and Folk Art, San Francisco; and Tate Modern, London. Ortiz has contributed to writing platforms such as the Davidoff Art Initiative, Fluent Collaborative, Curating Now, and Terremoto Magazine. In 2014, she was the recipient of the The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) and Independent Curators International (ICI) Travel Award for Central America and the Caribbean.
