Informe

This publication offers an expanded and updated version of the research conducted in 2021 by political scientist and director of Espacio Afro, Yeison F. García López, and sociologist José Ariza de la Cruz, within the framework of the FelipaManuela residency program. As in the previous edition, this report presents both a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the ethno-racial diversity present in the cultural institutions of the Community of Madrid. The main tool of the research was a survey distributed via an online form to directors of twenty-three museums and art centers — twice the number of institutions contacted in the 2021 study. The survey focused on two key areas: first, diversity in representation as reflected in programming, collections, and audiences; and second, the inclusion of ethno-racial diversity within the professional teams hired by these institutions.

The report Ethno-Racial Diversity in the Cultural Institutions of the Community of Madrid 2025 presents a description of the study conducted by researcher Jessica Figueroa Neikoleo, along with analysis by Yeison F. García López in collaboration with artist and curator Abdiel Segarra. As a complement to the research, this publication also includes the essay Archaeology of the Present: Records of Speech in the Face of the Politics of Forgetting by journalist, writer, and curator Fabián Villegas.
